Youth Ministries
The purpose of NCC Youth Ministries is to provide positive avenues by which young people are empowered to develop their minds and hearts.
C.A.P.S. College Assistance and Program Services. CAPS is a program for young adults graduating from high school to the age of 24. CAPS participants receive a mentor, a college box (that contains school supplies, snacks, and hygiene products), refurbished computers (as donated), cars (as donated), and some financial assistance (as donations permit).
Club Rec Is a recreational ministry for youth and adults. Children participate in various organized after school recreational activities. The activities range from basketball, dance, board games, to team building activities. Adult men are offered an opportunity to play basketball on Monday Nights for a small fee.
Education The Learning Centers assist children with their homework and/or the children are given worksheets or books to read. We have seven Learning Center locations (Greenbriar, Pershing Park, Chickasaw Place, Robin hood, North Center, Messiah Fellowship and New Era)
Tutoring We have four one-on-one tutoring locations (Second Pres., Evergreen Pres., Emanuel, North Center). Children are paired with volunteers from the community that assist them with homework and troubled learning areas. Volunteers are needed to remove children from the waiting list.
T.R.U.T.H. (Teens Receiving Understanding Through Him) Seekers Is a bible study structured for young people. The lessons are interactive and high energy. Children ages 5-11 attend Junior Truthseekers. Children ages 12-17 attend Senior Truthseekers. Children who continue to attend Truthseekers while in the 10th -12th grade may become eligible for the Truthseeker scholarship.
Camp NCC
NCC Arts Is a summer urban missionary program for teenagers and young adults. The youth present the gospel through song, dance, drama, and games. They conclude the summer with a city wide production in front of hundreds. The production then goes on tour.
“Buddie” Camp is an overnight camp for children 6-11. The children participate in various activities throughout the day. The children are paired with our NCC Art missionaries for their duration of camp.
I Camp Is an overnight camping program for children 12-15. The children learn about the gospel through age appropriate Bible lessons. Campers also learn to journal, appreciate nature, and apply the bible lessons to everyday life. Some of the activities the campers participate in are fishing, canoeing, hiking, swimming, and team building.
Phonics/Reading Is a four week camp designed to help children with basic reading skills. Children learn different letter blends in an interactive and fun environment.
Day Camp is a high intensity day of fun. Children learn about various careers, do Arts & Crafts, multiple recreational activities from basketball to badminton to dance, go on field trips, and learn how to apply scripture to everyday life. Day Camp is for ages 5 to 17. Applications will be given out the first week in May (May 4th-8th). Camp time is Monday-Thursday, 8:30-3:30. Camp dates are June 8th –July 2nd. Day Camp is free to all that apply. This year’s theme is Go Fish Matthew 4:19.
