JoeAnn Ballard

Thank you all for your outpouring of love and support!

Thank you all for your outpouring of love and support regarding our mother’s hospitalization.  We are utilizing Caring Bridge to provide periodic updates. On behalf of our family and the Neighborhood Christian Centers, Inc we appreciate your keeping up with updates through this mode of communication. God is Faithful!

On February 13, 2024 our 79 and 1/2 year old Mom arrived to the Emergency room, struggling to breathe and blood pressure extremely high .

After the steady and rapid work of the ER team, her breathing was brought under control, with support of an oxygen mask.  She was then transported to Baptist East ICU.

We are now on day 6 of her being at Baptist East she is in good spirits and doing well overall!

She knows the entire day and night nursing staff and support staff and has already been sharing gifts of daily appreciation and laughter with them… they all know Miss JoeAnn in these ICU Streets…

Spring Jam

What is Spring Jam?

NCC’s Spring Jam started 19 years ago, providing a virtual Spring Break travel experience for the children and families in our community and living across NCC’s 13 site locations. Dr. Ballard, NCC’s founder started this effort, after realizing that many of the children involved with NCC do not travel outside a 3 mile radius from their home. She wanted to create a culturally accurate, educational, and artistic event that not only exposed students to a different country, but the entirety of the travel experience, including passports, Drs. visits, money exchange, air travel, and more!

Through thousands of hours poured out from our staff and volunteers, and monetary support from our partners and donors, the NCC community comes together to provide an experience like no other, expanding the breadth of knowledge and exposure to the children and families in our community.

Compassionate Christmas

What is Compassionate Christmas?

Compassionate Christmas has a rich history that dates back to the 1980’s when the Ballard family and foundational supporters of NCC wanted to come together, to provide vital “food baskets” to the our neighbors in need in the Memphis community.

The mission was simple but powerful – to spread love and kindness to those who hungered in ways that went beyond food.

What started as a grassroots movement, with just a few people serving 500 families, soon grew to what it is today, over 300 volunteers helping to distribute 10,000 Christmas Food Boxes!
